EPR Simplified ("we," "us," or "our") operates the EPR Simplified mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (managed by Firebase Authentication). You may also provide your company name.
Product and packaging data. You enter product names, packaging component details (materials, weights, resin codes), and sales volumes. This is business data you provide to calculate EPR fees.
Photos. If you use the AI analysis feature, you upload photos of product packaging. Photos are stored securely in Firebase Cloud Storage and processed by our AI service to identify packaging materials. Photos are associated with your account and are not shared publicly.
Usage data. We may collect basic usage analytics such as app opens and feature usage to improve the product. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the core service: identifying packaging materials and calculating EPR fee estimates
- To process photos through AI vision analysis for material identification
- To generate compliance reports and fee summaries
- To authenticate your account and secure your data
- To respond to support requests
- To improve the app and fix bugs
AI Processing
When you upload a packaging photo, it is sent to a third-party AI service (OpenAI) for material analysis. The AI identifies packaging components, material types, and estimated weights. We send only the photo and receive structured material data in return. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this processing. No personal information is included with photo submissions.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), hosted in the United States. We use Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in and Firestore Security Rules to ensure users can only access their own company's data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Google Firebase — infrastructure for authentication, database, and file storage
- OpenAI — photo analysis for material identification (photos only, no personal data)
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your account data, including products, packaging records, photos, and sales data, within 48 hours.
Your Rights
You can:
- Access and export your product and packaging data within the app
- Delete individual products or photos at any time
- Request full account deletion by contacting us
Children's Privacy
EPR Simplified is a business tool and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on our website.
